[ooc] permissions post

Backtagging: Absolutely!!
Threadjacking: Sure, just ask permission first by pinging me on Plurk (if you have it) or leaving me a PM.
Timezone: EST
Preferred method of contact: Plurk or private messages. If you have Skype, you can also reach me at athenapants.
Prose or Action?: Either, or. I usually gravitate towards bracket action-style [like this], though.
Fourthwalling: Yes, but I should add that I'd prefer it if all fourthwalling is kept at fairy tale recognition. It's totally fine if your character recognizes him as the Big Bad Wolf from fairy tale lore; it's not cool if they recognize him as Sheriff Bigby Wolf from Vertigo's Fables/Telltale's The Wolf Among Us.
Can I injure him?: Of course!
Can I kill him?: It depends! Contact me first and we'll talk about it. This also goes for maiming and mutilating, but I'm pretty flexible so don't be afraid to approach me if you have any ideas.
Can I read his mind?: Again, talk to me first! As a note to all psychics, Bigby is very easily recognizable as being inhuman if you have the ability to discern such things through mind reading, aura reading, etc. His human appearance was crafted through some very powerful magic, and his innate smell is distinctly animal should your character be able to pick up on it.
Comfort levels: No rape, pedophilia or bestiality. Gore is fine, though! If you're ever worried about whether or not your character and the subject matter around them would mesh well with him, please contact me!

Finally, here's one for you guys! One of Bigby's powers is his acutely tuned sense of smell, which the comics (and to a tiny degree, the game) present as extremely powerful. How powerful are we talking about? Well, powerful enough to the point where he has to dull it by smoking like a chimney to keep himself from going into a sensory overload when he's in a heavily populated city like New York. He can smell things that are miles away and determine how old certain substances such as blood are. In Smoke and Mirrors, he finds an apple at a crime scene and deduces that it's not poisoned, stating that he'd easily be able to smell it if it was. This power also applies to sensing emotion. He can, quite literally, smell fear; basic emotions like anger and happiness also apply.

This last point is what affects your character! Because this particular power is always on and doesn't need to rely on whether or not Bigby is transformed for it to be active, I would really appreciate it if you left a comment below telling me if Bigby would be able to read your character's emotions through smell. This is not the same as being able to read their mind or sense their powers; all it does is give him an indication of what they're feeling and not why. If no comment is left or if you opt out, he won't presume anything about their emotional state that he wouldn't already know or be able to reasonably suspect through basic common sense.

Additionally, if you play a character who is a shapeshifter or an animal turned human, please add in your comment if Bigby would be able determine that they are as such through their scent. Thanks!

Bigby's welcome to track my characters or smell their emotions, and feel free to poke me if you don't feel I'm giving him enough info! I play Karkat here and Amal Chakravarthy [personal profile] godowntogether.

Yes permissions! If Bigby encounters Jolene, she's all over the place with emotions and can't even hide them in her expression -- but if he needs smell to tell him that she is pissed off or scared or really damned sheepish, I'm fine with that.

I've got a subplot with her going on right now that involve the Biomatrix; it's linked to themes of cancer and alien spores that colonize biomass and link it into a collective. Unlike the Borg, Biomatrix allows its living hosts autonomy until death, at which point it takes over their corpses and uses them like... do you live anywhere with co-op run rent-a-cars? Imagine a central bank of people who have kicked the bucket and are living an afterlife, who can borrow these rotting bodies if they have any need to interact with the living. It's gross and weird. The Biomatrix currently only has possession of Jolene and her clone, but over the next few months I plan on having it begin to root around into the wilderness' biomass. It will be wafting in themes of 'nearly fluorescent red' as well as 'fungal' or 'spore-like'. I'll leave it up to you as to whether this is bad news or not; I'm playing it so that at the moment the Biomatrix has no intention of taking over everyone, monster-like, but of course its motives and behaviours are always dodgy as hell. :D

All I've got is Czes here, but Bigby's absolutely free to read his emotions! Heads up that he's a lying liar who lies, so if it ever gets confusing what he's really feeling versus how he's behaving, feel free to prod me OOCly?

smell away! Ichigo's kind of terrible at keeping his emotions hidden ANYWAY, but he can totes do the smelly thing.

Would Bigby be able to detect the smell of absolute failure? Because if so, then detect away.

Also maybe a whiff of something funny about this guy. Maybe something magical.

But mostly just failure.

Glacius is a very cool-headed alien (har har); all puns aside, he does not display much in the way of emotions unless situations are really dire or extreme, and does a pretty good job of keeping them under lock and key. Seeing as Bigby has extraordinary powers of smell, he is still welcome to sense what Glacius is feeling, it would just be cool if maybe he has a bit of a harder time either picking up or deciphering what Glacius is currently feeling since the alien is so adept at controlling himself.

The only current exception to this is when Glacius is around Jolene/[personal profile] hairsay; then Bigby will be able to detect extreme loyalty and protectiveness from the alien without even the slightest difficulty... maybe even a hint of something deeper that the alien himself is not aware of (yet)!
